A project & development methodology defines the tasks, activities and governance, in managing projects from start to finish. It describes every step in the project & development life cycle in depth, so you know exactly which tasks to complete, when, how and by whom. It also allows monitoring the health, issues and risks of projects to ensure project is being driven in the right direction to meet the client’s objective on time and on budget. Without a clear methodology projects have a high risk of failure in meeting the client's objectives.
At melonspace our Project managers and consultants do not run in and simply run with any development methodology. The right methodology is determined in collaboration and agreement with our clients. Often we come across start of projects where the methodology has already been decided by client well before the project starts. In many cases, the decision is based on nothing more than "this is what we've always done". At other times, the methodology decision is based on an enterprise-wide initiative which the project is directed to adopt.
